Jillian Kreinbring is very well on her way to being one of the most important people in the equine world and this is happening before our eyes. I have watched Jillian teach beautifully and kindly and with an extraordinary amount of insight; throughout her clinics she references Mark multitudes of times and is able to put his teaching not only into words, but into her hands during demonstrations, and into her eyes as she helped students along with their horses. She joins Mark’s teachings with other modern day masters with her own biomechanics studies and Tai Chi practice. She draws on multiple resources; depending on where the horse is, and where the student is at that point in time. With Jillian these multiple layers segue into a pretty amazing phenomenon to witness.
Mark had always wanted all of his students to study with Jillian. And that certainly holds true today, perhaps even more so as Jillian grows moment to moment. Her teaching is particularly relevant to equine professionals; equine bodyworkers, natural horse trimmers, veterinarians, trainers, and teachers. And of course all levels of riders for whom the only requirement is that they wish to learn about their horse’s movement, their horse’s health, and their horse’s psyche.
We have posted Jillian’s clinic schedule here as a courtesy, and to help those who lost Mark to start finding their way again. Please direct any questions to Jillian at info@jkreinbring.com.

BIOMECHANICS LECTURE SERIES: To strengthen and enhance equine well-being, it is important to ride and work horses in healthy postures. Throughout this course, students will connect the why and how of balance and collection to understand how a horse’s anatomy, muscular development, and movement patterns affect his performance under saddle.
The 2 ½ day lecture series explains healthy movement in depth and gives the learner the opportunity to develop their eye so they can see healthy and unhealthy postures. Students will:
• Learn what to look for in healthy movement and muscular development.
• Discover what creates a healthy posture in riding horses.
• Evaluate a horse’s posture and anatomy from a new perspective.
• Add tools to develop horses’ postural strength.
Course Details:
• Looking at Your Horse ~ A New Perspective
• Examining Anatomy and Function of the Equine Head and Neck
• Equine Forequarters, Back, and the Importance of the Abdominal and Psoas Musculature
• Connection: The Hindquarters and the Significance of the Lumbo-Sacral Joint
• Coming Full Circle: The Mechanics of Balance & Collection
• ‘Developing-Your-Eye’ Labs:
• Evaluate horses’ anatomies and conformations.
• Identify key palpation points of the horse.
• Discuss observations of lab horses and make recommendations on how to support each horse according to its conformation and stage of development.
Rhythm Course – The First Riding Necessity
Rhythm is defined as a movement or procedure with uniform or patterned recurrence of beat or accent. Each horse has its own rhythm and sometimes it is hard for the horse and rider to define the appropriate cadence for the task at hand.
This three-day course focuses on helping the horse and rider develop a feel for rhythm, as well as understanding how to build confidence in the horse to help him succeed. Students will:
• Learn how to find a neutral pelvis and posture.
• Discover the differences between men and women riders.
• Define rhythm, tempo, cadence, length of stride and speed.
• Learn how to feel your horses’ movement through a stride sequence.
• Develop the skills to influence rhythm.
• Pick up exercises to build rhythm and trust with your horse.
Course Details:
• Content discussed in a classroom setting and later applied during group and individual lessons.
• Seminar booklets containing articles and presentation materials provided.
• Teaching materials range from articles, discussions, PowerPoint and videos focusing on human and horse biomechanics and movement.
Relaxation Course – A Stepping Stone Toward Building Postural Strength and Health
Postural alignment is the basis of proper movement. Whether it’s you or your horse, poor postural strength can lead to a long list of injuries. However, before you can start building postural strength it is vital that one learns the importance of relaxation and how to help your horse find it.
This three-day course focuses on relaxation of the horse and rider and is an important prerequisite to building postural strength in horses. Strong emphasis will be placed on equine biomechanics and neurology, which specifically relates to eliciting relaxation. Students will:
• Learn why relaxation is a building block for your horse’s success.
• Examine the gateways to physically and mentally supporting the horse to find relaxation and enhance learning.
• Observe physical elements of relaxation including the: tongue, hyoid, TMJ, atlanto-axial joint and dental mechanics.
• Discover why jaw and lateral flexions are necessary and how they work.
• Learn about rider rotation.
• Look at how bits can help and/or hinder the relaxation process.
• Leave with an understanding of how horses bend and the importance of proper bend.
Course Details:
• Content discussed in a classroom setting and later applied during group and individual lessons.
• Seminar booklets containing articles and presentation materials provided.
• Teaching materials range from articles, discussions, PowerPoint and videos focusing on human and horse biomechanics and relaxation.
Suppleness Course– Creating Elasticity and Mobility of Joints
Suppleness is the ability to bend without stiffness. Just like people, some horses are naturally more flexible than others. It is our duty to learn to read our horse’s body and help them become supple and create more movement in their joints over time. When a horse is stiff, this stiffness carries on throughout the body.
It is important to visually recognize properly executed lateral movements in-hand and under saddle. This three-day course will focus on the suppleness of horse and rider. Students will:
• Define suppleness and learn to spot suppleness in a horse.
• Take home tools to train the ‘spiral in – spiral out’ exercises.
• Study the what, why and how of shoulder fore, shoulder in, haunches in and haunches out.
• Leave with an understanding of how to start or refine these exercises in-hand and under saddle.
Course Details:
• Content discussed in a classroom setting and later applied during group and individual lessons.
• Seminar booklets containing articles and presentation materials provided.
• Teaching materials range from articles, discussions, PowerPoint and videos focusing on human and horse biomechanics.
